BN: I think the reason the early monks combined these verses with some of the suttas was that here in the Dhammapada we have the concise teaching of the Buddha. The Dhammapada, through the ages, has become the most popular book in Buddhism and not only in Theravada.

This person started talking to me, even though I did not understand a single word being said regardless, I was satisfied that my first attempt had been successful. After 6 hours of practicing in my mind I finally gathered the courage to say these simple words: "Hi my name is Jose". The next morning, I learned how to say "Good morning my mother, I love you" and I realized that I learned how to say it in less than five minutes. From the point, I built momentum.

Then you can practice loving-kindness. BN: Yes this is a stereotype about Theravada. Compassion starts with not harming others. When you talk about meditation, compassion, loving kindness, you don't discriminate. True religion should go beyond the group. We are friends with all of Buddhism and with everyone, but we need to make clear what Theravada is. Yes we are Theravada, but when we practice, when we live, we are like anyone. So we begin with sila, moral rectitude. Not you are Theravada. You have to include everybody. They say Theravada is egotistic and that we think only of ourselves.

The animals made friends with me: Tasha, a black dog with tan paws and mouth; a cat, white and brownish gold, named Sampatti; a brown, white-collared dog named Suvanno. I later encountered an inquisitive golden tan and white, dark-nosed donkey, Upekkha, as she was viewing a meditator, Juan, who, sitting on a front porch, was serenely composed. I spent some time silently walking around the property with its expansive green lawn. A very loving dog, Suvanno, gets around graciously without a left front leg. Before the first the interview, I was invited to the monastery a few hours early to do sitting and walking meditation.

During retreats they report they have difficulty keeping their posture during the entire period of one hour; sometimes they experience intense pain; they also report difficulty keeping the mind on the main object of meditation. But with practice, hey find that meditation brings peace of mind. I teach mindfulness meditation focusing on the breath as the main object. BN: Meditation helps my students to be more mindful of their everyday activities and to have less mental impurities.

The meditator can choose between concentrating on the in and out breaths in the nostrils or the movement up and down of the abdomen. If you observe only the object, just keeping your focus on that one object of attention, then it is samatha.

Monks do not want to come here. We've survived ten years here. I know many Burmese monks and they are not interested in coming to Mexico. What we lack here is the presence of more Buddhist monks.MZC: What more would you tell us about the history of Buddhism here in Mexico? Ejo Takata was all the way out there. The filmmaker, Alejandro Jodorowsky, in The Spiritual Journey of Alejandro Jodorowsky introduced many to his first and very impressive spiritual master, Zen Buddhist Ejo Takata. Ejo said: "By having me participate in your work, you have introduced many thousands of Mexicans to Zen meditation. " (The Spiritual Journey of Alejandro Jodorowsy, p.

I wanted to say this sentence to the person sitting next to me on the plane. That was four years ago. "Hi my name is____" and I filled out the blank space with "Jose". I was afraid of that person's reaction to my lack of English proficiency. I established a lot of negativity in my mind and mental barriers by saying to myself: What if this person ignores me? What if this person doesn't understand me? I decided to practice "Hi my name is Jose" over and over again; it may seem simple to you, but if you've tried learning a foreign language, you may appreciate the difficulty of beginnings. I remember the airplane flight from Honduras to the US - reading my first English sentence. " This was the first English sentence that I learned. Two years later, I met Venerable U Silananda and Venerable U Nandisena, when Bhikkhu Nandisena came to live in Mexico.

MZC: We hear the superficial categorization with Mahayana being more conducive to compassion, Theravada being more inward and Mahayana being more outgoing. Yet compassion, meditation and wisdom has been in the earliest scriptures you refer to.

Four years ago, my mother, my two younger brothers, and I came to South Central Los Angeles in search of the American Dream.

BN: Different people come. I like the Mexican culture for several reasons. There is a wonderful tolerance and warmth here. We can bring the teachings of sila here, more awareness of how to lessen suffering in our interaction as human beings. Local people are curious to see what we do here, to see the Buddhist images. So all of us should follow ethics, which means we do not cause harm or suffering to other beings. We want to teach the importance of not stealing, not cheating each other, not falling into drunkenness and drug abuse, not doing physical violence. We like the people and they like us as well. We need to live together harmoniously. For these people, I emphasize sila, ethics, and the 5 precepts. The Catholic church also teaches these moral codes.

Sometimes during the day, I take a break from working, and focus on breathing mindfully. I wish and pray for those who are now happy to have their happiness increased. Who were your teachers? MZC: For the past 18 years or so I've been part of the community at the Rosemead Buddhist Monastery where Bhante Chao Chu (whom you met at the International Buddhist Conferences in Thailand and Vietnam) is the abbot. In the morning, besides "just sitting" I use a few moments to send some loving kindness to myself and to all of us, at times picturing or thinking about a particular person who may be difficult for me or about the soldiers in Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan, about children, my family and friends and the poor around the world. Sometimes I picture the young children on the streets here in Veracruz who are working and begging and some sleeping on cold streets at night. I try to meditate daily, but I don't always.

Poggi mir alrededor, los nativos estaban riendo (l aprendera en el siguiente ano que ellos se rean todo el tiempo, como el mono, todo el tiempo, movindose, riendo "! Producers recreated the "birth of life" with a three-dimensional projection of micro-organisms that moved frenetically and divided among themselves. Microbes, represented by large kinetic sculptures, fluttered across the stage. Then a giant forest filled the center of the stadium. The next section was dedicated to the Amazon region, home to the world's largest rainforest.

In terms of location, Hotel Sintra sits on one of Macau's most central corners: A stone's throw from Hotel Lisboa and the other glitzy casinos, and a short stroll from Senado Square and the heritage sites around it.

There are thousands of Burmese in Los Angeles. This is good for the Burmese in California, but I don't know how good this is for Buddhism at large.

But don't think this way. So the teachings are our teacher. The teachings, the Dhamma and the Vinaya will be the teacher. Although there is an increasing tendency in the Theravada tradition for monks to get involved in politics, I think the Buddha, as we know Him from the Pali Canon, wanted the monks to devote their lives to learning, practicing, teaching the Dhamma, and also to preserving His Teachings for future generations. This is like an injunction from the Buddha not to get unnecessarily involved in politics, as leaders, in my opinion. BN: The point with Buddhism, according to our tradition, before the Buddha passed away, moments before his last words, that we should work out our salvation diligently; Buddha told Ananda that after he passed away, you may think this is the word of the teacher who is gone. This is a lot of work! So in our tradition we do not have a leader.

I find the practice of loving-kindness meditation helps my students deal with anger and hatred, and the whole range of situations related with those unwholesome mental states. BN: Both tranquility meditation and insight meditation are part of what is called in Pali bhavana which can be translated as (mental) development. I am omitting the Pali diacritical marks. Regarding the absorptions, it is important to mention that there are two kinds of absorptions or contemplations: (1) the contemplation of the object (arammanupanijjhana), which corresponds to tranquility meditation, and (2) the contemplation of the characteristics (lakkhanupanijjhana), which corresponds to insight meditation. At the Dhamma Vihara we mostly teach and practice insight meditation though we complement it with the practice of loving-kindness meditation, which belongs to the category of tranquility meditation. Tranquility meditation is for the development of concentration, which is an important step for the development of wisdom.

We only eat two meals, breakfast at 6:00 am and lunch at 11 am. After lunch we take a rest until around 1 pm. There is sitting meditation at 2 pm. But the layperson has more freedom to be vegetarian.

You can then use what leads you, in your own personal way, to mindfulness. There are two conditions about meditation, which are important. Mindfulness can be cultivated in any of the four foundations, in several techniques, but it is the mindfulness, which is what we want to imbue within ourselves. BN: The Mahasi Sayadaw's method consists of mindfulness meditation using the movements of the abdomen as the main object. First, that you follow the essential spirit of the scriptures and secondly, that you do what works for you.

The upbeat segment ended with a short fireworks display. Actress Regina Case brought the crowd to its feet by dancing to Pais Tropical while Jorge Ben Jor played the guitar. "In Honduras and other Latin American countries, the Black populations in conjunction with indigenous people are part of the lowest economic and social strata. For many centuries, Black people have added their original contributions to their respective societies that influence on all facets of life in Latin America. Historically, Blacks in Latin America are the most socio-economically disadvantaged since the time slaves were shipped during the time of conquest of the Americas. In the following four centuries, thousands of immigrants from Africa were brought to the New World as slaves. Overall in Latin American, Whites and lighter-skinned individuals enjoy higher social status than their Blacks and danker-skinned counterparts, who are subjected to de facto racial prejudice and discrimination (in other words a form of discrimination based on beliefs and customs) Today, their descendants form significant groups in several Latin Americans countries, and they are the dominant element in many of the Caribbean nations. The Latin American regions were the first areas of the Americas to be populated by Blacks. S, Latin American societies are also racialized, even if they have not developed a system of de jure discrimination (in other words discrimination based on law) such as Jim Crow up until the second half of the 20th century.

BN: Well, I began to think when I read that article, that if the Dalai Lama would just be a spiritual leader to the people of Tibet, perhaps a lay person would be more effective in protesting human rights violations. The monk is very limited. I admit I don't know so much about this. A layperson might have more latitude to solve human rights problems.

The energy and tension of the artists portrayed disputes throughout Brazil and the world that are yet to be resolved. In a warning about the danger of intolerance, a battle broke out between the two groups that convulsed the stadium. The stage was then swamped by Maracutu and Bate Bola dancers.

Macau's recent economic renaissance has resulted in the building of more than a few swanky hotels and casinos, and the city is increasingly seen as an expensive place where budget travelers can't find a cheap hotel to suit their budget.

Standing at the top end of the range of low-cost hotels, this lately renovated property is possibly the most popular among Macau's cheap hotels, and whilst it may be just a bit too expensive for backpackers, it makes a very good choice for budget-minded tourists who are in search of a decent accommodation at a fair price (Especially if you are going to spend more time exploring the city then hanging around the hotel.

Nelly, Poggi's wife (a good woman, and hard to find), and even Poggi is unaware he is going through this stage of life. And so this is where our story begins. Who wants to admit it even if you know it, it is a launching pad for escapism, to live in the forbidden, the imaginary world; thus, in Lima they live a happy life, or as happy as they can make it. And here is a small tip: Try to avoid weekends, as Fernando's don't accept early bookings and the restaurant can get jam packed. Portuguese style BBQs (both meat and seafood) are Fernando's main draw, and so is the freshly baked Portuguese bread, but frankly speaking, everything on the menu is good! Next to the restaurant, there is a nice outdoor bar where you can have a drink before or after dinner. Restaurante Fernando (or Fernando's as it is more commonly known) is another one of Macau's gastronomic emblems. Nestled on Coloane Island's Hac sa Beach, one of Macau's greenest and most peaceful corners, Fernando features a rustic-homey ambience that contributes a lot to the lovely dining experience, with simple bamboo furniture and an exquisite alfresco dining area, covered with shrubs.

We think that quitting is losing. We think that because we started a specific road with a set goal we will look as losers if we find that that was not our mountain and we choose to return. The second lesson and heresy of today is that if at any moment we have the experience of not being satisfied it is precisely because we have not quit enough. We think that returning from a mountain that is not ours, that is not gratifying and that is taking life away from us is a sign of losing. We think that returning is failing.

We speak about meritorious deeds; it is a practical book about how to practice a life in the spirit of service. Also we talk about the laws of karma, because we need to have the right understanding about the law of cause and effect.

They did not quit enough. They are fading and don't even know any more what passions them, they are too tied to their own success and that is what makes them so unhappy and unfulfilled.

Three-year-old Liam, made the conscious effort to shift to buying organic produce two years ago after watching a documentary on how chickens are grown in a poultry. Chickens were bred in two different ways, she recounts. It may seem like a contradiction because in the end, these free range chickens still end up on our dining tables; but for Erro, "buying organic eggs and chicken from the letter method means supporting the properly bred chickens and their farmers who chose to raise healthy livestock for consumers.

From a distance, the reclaimed area of Cotai looks like one huge construction site, but once you are in there, it is not that bad. The area's most famous sites are the world-famous Venetian and the newly opened City of Dreams.

BLACKS IN LATIN AMERICAN ARE SO MARGINALIZED THAT PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT WE EVEN EXIST. has a great influence on the financial success and independence of Afro-Hondurans from their Honduran government, which has denied them economic freedom and individual rights because of the political corruption of the elites. According to the United Nations and World Bank Institute, Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the world in terms of Gross Domestic Product per capita and average living standards. Blacks are the poorest people in Honduras; however, in the last thirty years the economy of Blacks has improved because of the support of their family members that have immigrated to the U.

Macau, China's leading gambling and gaming destination, is famous for its swanky casino-resorts, where high-heeled guests pour thousands of dollars on the Baccarat tables, but surprisingly enough, this characterful city also has a few decent hostels, where backpackers can lay their heads comfortably, without having to break their savings.

What's more, the hostel's management is planning to renovate the old establishment, which means that pretty soon the shabby, old rooms will give way to something more reasonable, and air-conditioned. Nestled within a colonial Portuguese house along historic Rua da Felicidade, this characterful guesthouse is within a short stroll to some of Macau's top attractions and sightseeing spots, as well as to numerous restaurants and authentic eateries.

Cobbled streets of downtown San Juan with its fruit colored buildings were a welcome sight from any stereotypical American city. Until rain decided to play spoilsport, we spent the evening strolling around the various Spanish fortifications in the mainland. Shockingly, fierce looking mottled-green chameleon-like reptiles (also iguanas) were everywhere - stalking each other on the lawns of the El Morro fort, crossing busy streets, atop run-down structures of the fort! I liked the location of where we stayed - da house. I could not stop myself from getting surprised every time something moved among the grass. We chose the place because it could be a good starting point for our walking tour of the city. Rooms were bit too small for the price but we were there only for one night so that didn't bother us too much.

But there is one more thing that is a very essential part of the Christmas spirit that are the Christmas songs or better known as the carols, you can hear them coming out of every Christian house and church during the Christmas season.

My mother cried, but she continued looking for job with determination to take care of her three children. And the manager said to her: Felicidades Xiomara usted tiene su trabajo como secretaria en nuestra oficina. My mother was very excited and she went straight to the office. Congratulations Xiomara you have been hired to work in our office. My mother replied: yo soy Xiomara y estoy aqui para trabajar. In less than one week, she got a call. The manager said: Excuse me how may I help you? Well, we will give you a call later this week. Come by later today to present your documents to start working for us. It was evident that they did not hire her because she was Black. Then, she started looking for job for Spanish speakers. They never called her again.

Two main buildings with a meditation hall, a library and study room, guest rooms, and a fully equipped kitchen are situated on 22 acres of natural beauty in the mist forest of Jilotepec. Fog was crawling over the trees; spindly yellowish green cacti were peeking up through deep green grass.

In some cases, that something is money, in others, being loved by someone else, for some others could be fame and personal and professional prestige. Whatever the case might be, the fact is that the road that the person takes is perceived as an opportunity, a mountain that will take effort to climb but in which there is a top with the promise of fulfillment and happiness. It is a similar story in every case, someone starts a job, project, relationship or business with the illusion to find in that road something that represents his or her fulfillment and happiness. The hilly environment of Jilotepec, Veracruz seemed also to be making friends with me. I walked up to the edges of the woods, some going uphill. This mind is both inside and outside--neither inside nor outside. During my afternoon "Day of Recollection," I did two hours of walking meditation. I recalled Robert Aitken's description of sitting meditation: "Sinking into one's bones and sinews and facing the bare emptiness of the mind. Oaks, birds and animalitos, delicate rosy wild flowers, icons of a Golden Buddha shining in a brilliance of peace, an artistically done but somewhat claustrophobic meditation room where I sat cross-legged for 45 minutes, just sitting, being aware of whatever was arising.

" Dijo Poggi (casi listo para correr ahora, correr Dnde? -en esta oscuridad profunda de la selva era una pregunta retrica trada delante de l mismo; esto desde luego sera la pregunta sin contestar; pregunta de aclaracin).

The Island of Taipa is next in line: "Sandwiched" between the peninsula, to its north, and the reclaimed area of Cotai, to its south, it used to comprise two islands, but land reclamation connected them.

If you wind up your day at the Venetian, simply take one of their free shuttles to Taipa Island's Temporary Ferry Terminal where you can board the CotaiJet, but if you are around Macau Town (or the tower) traveling via Macau Ferry Terminal is likely to make more sense. Traveling back to Hong Kong is as easy as ABC.

The Theravada tradition has kept this oldest living teaching of Buddhism. People should investigate deeply into these scriptures. They are so important to us. We have these 40 volumes and I think this is unique. We have these three baskets of wisdom to draw from. BN: Well, we have all of the Pali Canon in Theravada.

Occupying a neo-classical 1870s building that once housed a club for colonial army officers, right next to the legendary Lisboa, Clube Militar features an uber-elegant decor, with polished wood floor and crisp-white tablecloths. For a sumptuous and atmospheric dinner that revives the charm of colonial Macau, very few restaurants can compete with Clube Militar. Portuguese classics dominate the menu and during lunch they serve a buffet, so you can try different things.

BN: I make the distinction between "the condition" and the direct breaking of the precepts. But just buying meat, which is already in a supermarket, citate celebre is not a direct breaking of the precept; however, you are in the condition for another breaking the precept. So in the Theravada tradition, you only break the precept when you directly kill another being or order another to kill for you. That is the difference.

Deseandote buena salud y felicidad en la vida\" which means (I think) \"Happy Birthday To You! So if we take a look at Spanish, we can see things like: \"Feliz Cumpleanos! Which is why you should send me an English SMS! Things like happy wishes, birthday jokes, memories, etc. That person will receive your text and smile brightly that you even remembered it was their birthday. Once you find the one you want simply type it into your phone and voila send. To Good Health simply as it may be, it can be costly.

Naturally, there are many Hispanic or Spanish baby names that came from the military. In ancient times, the military has major role on the history and culture of Spain. For example, Rico means strong ruler, Garcia means brave in battle, Sargento means sergeant, and Teniente means lieutenant.

Perdemos algo con la guerra
Y a veces ganamos algo:
Idealismo, fsico, cnico,
(Sin sangre en la cara),
Psicolgico, inocente-:
Todos nosotros somos victimas de la violencia
Pero seguro.

Two indigenous groups, interpreted by Parintins Festival dancers, emerged from the converged shadow of yellow butterflies. The groups recreated patterns of their art, performing their native dances while holding elastic bands that formed giant huts, known as ocas.

Actually there is no "self" that you are going to find within yourself. You need to see there is no one. We have to discover and experience for ourselves. You don't even need to get rid of your ego, because there is no one there to get rid of. The thing about the non-self is that it is like a fact, which we need to discover for ourselves. BN: The Buddha taught a Middle Way that rejects both of these extremes.

With its great location on nostalgic Rua da Felicidade, merely a short walk to attractions like Senado Square, St. Augustine's Church and other historical sites, the popular Ko Wah looks like an inbreed between a decent cheap hotel and an upgraded guesthouse, and although it is known mainly as a backpackers' oriented accommodation, it offers some very nice rooms that are even better than what you can get in most of Macau's cheap hotels.

Alto de Coloane, Macau's highest hill, occupies the central part of Coloane Island and can be clearly seen from every corner of the island. It is mostly famous for the "A-Ma Cultural Village": An architecturally fascinating complex of shrines, temples and educational rooms, dedicated to Macau's most beloved deity.

On the northern side of the "Casino Belt", next to Sands Macau, lies Macau Fisherman's Wharf, a themed entertainment complex worth visiting, and north to it lies the Ferry Terminal, from where you can catch a ferry to Hong Kong.

Most of the restaurants in downtown remained closed; even the ones that were open till lunchtime decided to pull shutters by late afternoon. We landed in Luis Munoz Marin International airport on a Monday, which also happens to be a state holiday. That didn't interfere with any of our sightseeing in San Juan but did when we decided to eat dinner. ), But was sin carne (no meat). All we could get without meat was an un-appetizing glob of marinara and cheese on a piece of soggy bread! By the next day, however, I took fancy to a 'mofongo' from the Caribbean cuisine and survived on it for the rest of stay. Every restaurant used their handed-down family recipe to prepare this dish, but the one that most suited my palate was the 'plaintain dumplings served in garlicky lentil gravy' version. In fact, it was just a snapshot of what to expect for the rest of the week. Not surprisingly, the Spanish word I used most often during the trip was not hola (hello), not gracias (thank you), not habla English?

Outside Macau Ferry Terminal, there is a bus stop from which you can travel to your first destination: Senado Square (Largo do Senado) - The heart of Macau town and a convenient starting point to the UNESCO's declared Macau World Heritage Trail.

We received permission to translate this book into Spanish. BN: There's a book written by Thera Ashin Janakabhivamsa (RIP, 1977) called Abidharma in Daily Life. This book tries to convey the many different kinds of mental states, which occur in the human being, both wholesome and unwholesome. He was Burmese and rector of the International Theravada Buddhist University. I taught an online course in 2005 using this book.

We always do special stuff for each other when it comes to our bdays. As long as you have a connection of some kind; blue-tooth or otherwise - then you can accomplish almost anything you want! Recently I was looking for some sites online that allow you to find birthday SMS messages because my friends bday is coming up and I wanted to wish her a happy birthday in a unique way! Never anything super boring! Nowadays you can do just about anything on or over the Internet. Ah the age of technology. An SMS is just a fancy word for a text message but the acronym actually means - Short Message Service aka text message! I found a few sites that actually give you a ton of ideas through the website.

From here, you can drive across the bridge to Taipa Island and onwards, to Cotai, where the world's largest casino is located, at the Venetian. Visiting this colossal casino is exciting, even if you are not a gambler, and what's more, you can enjoy some great shopping, dining and gondola riding at the adjacent Venice-themed mall, called the Grand Canal shoppes.

Sometimes, the two surname is separated by "y" which means "and". Another Hispanic culture, a person is usually given two surnames (name of father and mother). For example, Maria Gonzalez y Alvarez means daughter of Gonzalez and Alvarez. In this case, the word de implies "wife of". Finally, the name can also tell the character like Alvaro (truth speaker), Felicidad (happiness), and Alberto (bright). In Hispanic culture, the wife gets to keep her maiden name. For example, Maria de Gonzalez Alvarez means Maria Gonzalez is wife of Alvarez.

It is not a matter of choosing a time when the psyche of man (usually because of aging) goes haywire, and during this gap in a man's life, or call it his changing of life, likened to the changing of seasons, he looks at opportunities; hoping to escape for one more run down youth's lane. His body is changing, he wants to be young again (and he thinks he can), and like the young characters he watches on TV, the sports in particular: smooth bodies, muscles popping out: he can do it, just once more, this is the time, the one and only chance, if he is going to take it, it must be now or never. The man knows there is perhaps only one more chance to appear in the unrepentant world of youth; thus he must face fight or flight. Most do not leave the homestead, or comfort of the campsite to journey to the unknown, or unsafe areas, save they have plan A and B in place. Goes astray and does strange things. Henceforward, he escapes, calls it what he wants, perhaps Indian summer, and goes astray, like a woman in menopause.

For example, Roberto Panadero means Roberto the baker, and Roberto Cocinero means Roberto the chef. The name can also tell the occupation of the person like Panadero (baker), Cocinero (chef), Torrero (bull fighter), Atalaya (guard tower), and Escudero (squire).

The word de means "from", while the word del or del las means "from the". For example, Roberto de Lugo means Roberto who lives from the town of Lugo, Roberto Del Monte means Roberto who is from the mountain, and Roberto de las Castillo means Roberto who is from the Castle. The origin of baby name is also a popular practice.

Elza Soares then performed Canto de Ossanha, a song which played a major role in helping Afro-Brazilian music break into the mainstream. The segment was completed by Zeca Pagodinho and Marcelo D2, contemporary Rio artists that have created their own styles by fusing samba, pop, pagode and hip hop.

Carlos Drummond de Andrade's poem, A Flor e a Nausea, was read by Fernando Montenegro and Judi Dench, its verses providing hope the planet can be saved. The sombre scenes were followed by a message of hope as the boy spotted a plant emerge from the arid ground. "A flower has sprouted in the street. "Stop business," the poem said. " Meanwhile screens showed the benefits of planting new trees and told us that Brazil has reduced deforestation in the Amazon by 80% since 2005.

BN: In our Theravada tradition, reading the original Pali, we see we should abstain from taking any intoxicant, any alcohol or drug. Here in Mexico, people may drink moderately, but also some drink a great deal. This is according to our tradition. Some may interpret this differently, but in our Theravada way, we take this to be complete abstinence from any intoxicant. I also teach that the Buddha taught that "not taking life" should be extended to animals as well as humans, not causing harm to sentient beings.but don't hold me for it) Strategically located at the bottom end of historic Rua da Felicidade, just a spit away from many of Macau's historic attractions and night spots, this hundred years old property prides itself for being Macau's oldest existing guesthouse, and although most of the rooms are only ceiling fanned and do not even have private baths, the guesthouse has plenty of ambience (and relatively low rates) so you might want to consider it after all (Moreover, there are rumors about renovations, as I'm writing these lines.

East of the village, on the island's southernmost coastline, lies picturesque "Cheoc Van Beach" and further east, on the island's eastern side, lies "Hac Sa Beach" - Macau's most popular beach. Coloane

Chicken specialties are the main thing here, particularly the Galinha a Portuguesa (Portuguese style chicken), but everything else is just as good. Tucked in a small lane, just a minute walk from Taipa Village's main street, Rua Cunha, it is open only for dinner and you must book well in advance if you want to get a table. Amagao: Serving what some gourmands consider to be the best Portuguese-Macanese food in Macau, this lilliput-size "private-kitchen" is probably one of Taipa Island's best kept secrets. Moreover, you have to discuss your dinner with the chef-owner, as he buys the fresh ingredients especially for you.

The rates here are certainly higher than in most of the hostels in Macau, but if you don't mind spending a few more dollars for a proper guestroom, with air-condition, clean bathroom and some other facilities, Ko Wah is certainly an option worth thinking about. Unlike the average Macau hostel, this establishment is the closest you can get to a hotel, without having to spend the kind of money it takes to stay in a hotel. 3) Just like the SanVa, Hotel Ko Wah also occupies an excellent position on historic Rua da Felicidade, just a few minutes walk from popular sightseeing spots like Senado Square, Largo de Santo Agostinho, The Museum of Macau and Ruins of St.

A Lorcha, near A-Ma Temple and Macau Maritime Museum, is one of Macau's most notable culinary icons, serving what is described by many as the "best Portuguese food outside Portugal". With nice and simple Portuguese decor, and friendly staff, this relatively small restaurant renders a somewhat homey ambience and, most importantly, some outstandingly delicious Portuguese-Macanese food, both seafood and meat. Among the signature dishes you can find names like Chourico assado (char-grilled Portuguese chorizo), Bacalhau com natas (bacalhau with potato in cream sauce) and Pan-fried clams with garlic, just to name a few. Don't be afraid to order something new, there is very little chance for you to go wrong.

Giant waves were created by the movement of some 250 metallic sheets along with the music Samba de Verao, or Summer Samba. The focus then turned to the center of the stadium where silver-clad performers reproduced a pattern created by Athos Bulcao, whose work is widely seen to reflect the founding elements of Brazil's culture, with its African and Portuguese roots.

Life is there to be discovered and the road to discovery is full of opportunities for growth and happiness, but the key to find that life in which we do what we are passionate for and what fires up is in quitting, quitting as many times as needed, until we find our own road. If you are not happy, no matter how successful you are is because you have not quit enough!

" Ellos te comern", dijo Vctor, a Poggi, as la esperanza desilusionada de ser liberados de los canbales en las selvas profundas de Atalaya (por la Selva de Satipo, en Per) lo abrumaron, pero De dnde vendra esto?

Macau, China's gambling and entertainment capital, and the country's most atmospheric city, occupies a fairly tiny area of only less than 30 km2, but in spite of being so small, the territory is divided to different parts and sections, each with its unique character.

1) Auguster's Lodge is a tiny Macau hostel, tacked in an ugly building within the city centre, just in between the famous Casino Lisboa and Senado Square, and although the hostel is very small in size, it has become incredibly popular among backpackers and low budget travellers, mainly because it is the only hostel in Macau where you can sleep in a real dormitory, like the ones you find in hostels in big cities around the world. Proper air-conditioning and clean showers are also among this hostel's advantages, and so is its fantastic location: Only five minutes walk from many of Macau's sightseeing spots.

to live in South Central Los Angeles, where I observed a racial hatred and tension among Blacks and Latinos, these were things that people used to say and ask me. I could not give an answer for all those questions; especially since I did not speak English at all. Four years ago, when I just came to the U. To me, it was obvious from my appearance. Tonight, I am hoping to have a conversation with all of you!

I search for good taste, texture, practicability, availability, and quality of the produce. As a chef, she also keeps to the same practice. 2) The iconic SanVa Hotel has been part of Macau for almost a hundred years and although the accommodation here is somewhat spartan, it still makes one of the best options for backpackers who want to enjoy a good location and plenty of ambience at a good price.

Feliz Navidad is a Christmas song written in 1970 by the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Jos Feliciano. With its simple Spanish chorus (the traditional Christmas/New Year greeting, "Feliz Navidad, prspero ano y felicidad" or "Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year ") and equally simple English verse ("I want to wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart "), it has become a classic Christmas pop song

The first thing you have to do is find the site you want for the birthday SMS message. This is actually a really easy thing to do and you can do it in all kinds of languages not just standardized English. So when it comes to stuff like this, I try to make it as easy on him as I can. After you do so you should see a few different categories on the website itself - usually languages such as Dutch, English, French, Italian, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, etc. So when you pick a specific category - you will be given birthday messages in that language. This is always nice as well because NOT everyone speaks or reads English! I have a best friend that knows VERY little English - he is Dutch.

Some of the local signature dishes are the 'must-try' items, though they are usually found on the streets. Another uniquely renowned local snack is ginger milk. Two of the Macanese snacks, Portuguese egg tarts and pork chop buns are highly favoured by Hong Kong people. Street foods can be extremely delicious, unique and rich in local Macau taste. You can smell the fragrance while walking on the street. Some shops even have customers lining up just for a pork chop bun. Milk being controlled to a certain temperature being poured into ginger juice will cause the milk to curdle. Hence it has to be made to order making it extremely fresh and silky smooth.

So we rejoice when we see others doing good deeds. Rejoicing is just the beginning. For example, you and your friends' work with street children who are in need. Others will want to do good deeds themselves and will find the deep satisfaction in it. The mere rejoicing is a wholesome deed itself. It's a seed in the mind, such that others can also do good deeds. BN: Yes, according to Buddhism there are unseen beings who may be near and who can also rejoice with us. You just speak out that you've done these meritorious deeds and you let others find joy in that.

The song tells the tale of Santa Claus's ninth and lead reindeer who possesses an unusually red-colored nose that gives off its own light, powerful enough to illuminate the team's path through inclement weather. Yet despite its cheery, holiday feel, it is a love song that never mentions Christmas and both the composer and lyricist were Jewish.

The topography of Puerto Rico is incredible for a land of its size.

Note: in a Sestina, one often can feel (if done correctly) the creation of a rolling musical effect, almost like rolling down a hill, or mountain into a valley, which this was the effect I chose, and tried to produce in this poem.
